Disappointment Looms as Netflix Teases ‘The Witcher’ Season 3

As (some) fans eagerly await the release of the first big trailer for Season 3 of The Witcher, a major casting change announced for the future of the series has left many fans, including myself, feeling less excited about the upcoming season. While Henry Cavill will continue to portray Geralt of Rivia in Season 3, it has been confirmed that the actor will be stepping down from the role following its conclusion.

In a move that has been met with mixed reactions, Liam Hemsworth has been announced as Cavill's successor for the role of Geralt in Season 4.

Cavill's portrayal of Geralt has been widely praised by fans and critics alike, and his departure from the series has left a significant portion of the fanbase feeling disheartened. As a result, many fans are struggling to muster enthusiasm for the upcoming Season 3, knowing that it will be the last season featuring Cavill as the iconic monster hunter.

The announcement of Liam Hemsworth taking over the role in Season 4 has only intensified the division among fans. While some are curious to see Hemsworth's take on Geralt, many others are disappointed by the casting change and find it difficult to imagine the series without Cavill's embodiment of the character.

This sentiment is being echoed across social media, where fans are voicing their dissatisfaction with the upcoming casting change. For many, the attachment to Cavill's portrayal of Geralt is so strong that the prospect of another actor taking on the role makes it difficult to maintain enthusiasm for the series moving forward.

With the release of the Season 3 trailer, it is unclear if the excitement surrounding the new season will be enough to overshadow the looming casting change. While some fans may be able to set aside their disappointment and enjoy Season 3 for what it is, others, including myself, are struggling to come to terms with the impending departure of Cavill and the introduction of Hemsworth as Geralt.

As the series moves forward, it remains to be seen if The Witcher can maintain its momentum and appeal in the face of such a significant casting change. However, it's clear that the announcement has already left a bitter taste in the mouths of many fans, casting a shadow over the excitement for Season 3.

I wonder if the shadow is enough to lose motivation to even bother watching, and causing the series to be cancelled due to lack of interest.

Guess time will tell...
