Hollow Knight: Silksong Delayed Until Further Notice

If you're a fan of the indie gaming world, chances are, you're familiar with Hollow Knight, the critically acclaimed Metroidvania title from Team Cherry Games. The game has garnered a dedicated fan base thanks to its immersive world, stunning artistry, and gripping gameplay. Among these fans, one eagerly awaiting the next installment, Hollow Knight: Silksong, is none other than yours truly. Yes, I confess: Hollow Knight is my all-time favorite indie game, and the anticipation for Silksong is positively electric.

Recently, Matthew Griffin, the Marketing & Publishing representative for Hollow Knight: Silksong at Team Cherry Games, took to Twitter to provide a development update on the upcoming sequel and let everyone know it has been delayed. While we all hoped for a release in the first half of 2023, it appears that Silksong is going to need a bit more time in the development oven.

In his tweet, Griffin stated:

"Hey gang, just a quick update about Silksong. We had planned to release in the 1st half of 2023, but development is still continuing. We're excited by how the game is shaping up, and it's gotten quite big, so we want to take the time to make the game as good as we can. Expect more details from us once we get closer to release."

While this news might initially strike as disappointing, we must remember the old adage, "Good things come to those who wait." Team Cherry is known for its meticulous attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality gaming experiences. If they need more time to perfect Silksong, that's a delay I'm willing to embrace.

The original Hollow Knight was a masterpiece of indie game design, blending unique artwork, engaging combat, a deeply atmospheric world, and an intriguing narrative. Its sequel, Silksong, promises to build on this strong foundation, taking us to new heights (quite literally, as the protagonist, Hornet, ascends to a new kingdom).

Given the grandeur of the original Hollow Knight, it's not surprising that Team Cherry has ambitious plans for Silksong. Their dedication to creating a game that not only meets but exceeds expectations is evident in their decision to push the release date.

Everyone is filled with excitement to see how Silksong shapes up. The promise of a 'bigger' game implies an even more expansive world to explore, more challenging enemies to face, and more intricate lore to unravel.

While it's disheartening to have to wait a bit longer for Hollow Knight: Silksong, the assurance that Team Cherry is committed to delivering a game of the highest quality is comforting. As a passionate fan of Hollow Knight, I can only imagine how incredible the follow-up, Silksong, is going to be. Here's to a game that will be worth the wait!

I’m disappointed but frankly not surprised.
