Yikes.
Just. Yikes.
They actually did it...
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is quite the... specimen for the modern audience. It's getting rave reviews, from reviewers who are extremely queer, or trans, or identify as other parts of the LQBTQ+ spectrum. The review situation is a clusterfck in itself, where some reviewers claim they didn't get codes because they may have appeared too critical of the games prospects leading up to launch, while other, trans reviewers, were given codes out like candy on Halloween...
When I asked ai to summarize what the review consensus was on this "video game", it came back as quite... uhhh... quite a bit... Sexual:
"Dragon Age: The Veilguard continues BioWare's legacy of inclusivity in the RPG genre, particularly regarding LGBTQIA+ representation. The game offers players a rich array of romantic and platonic interactions, allowing them to engage in same-sex romances and flirtations across various characters.
The inclusivity extends beyond romance, with a robust character creator that allows queer players to shape heroes that represent their identities authentically. This thoughtful design has made The Veilguard a standout in terms of representation, establishing it as a milestone in LGBTQIA+ inclusion, similar to Dragon Age: Inquisition.
Through its commitment to meaningful diversity and personalization, BioWare once again creates a space for LGBTQIA+ players to feel seen and celebrated in a mainstream RPG."
Recent leaks from Dragon Age: The Veilguard have ignited heated debate on Twitter specifically around the game’s approach to trans representation. Screenshots show characters discussing “top surgery scars”—a reference to the chest surgery some trans people undergo. In a title confusingly focused on inclusivity, these conversations signal BioWare’s commitment to diverse representation - at any cost. The implementation is raising serious concerns about the potential influence on impressionable players.
The screenshots in question show character interactions that seem to encourage, if not celebrate, top surgery scars, while positioning them as a heroic or even fashionable aspect of identity... even so far as having the option to call them "sexy".
While it's funny to mock this as a joke on Twitter, in all seriousness, glorifying these types of surgeries could encourage vulnerable, more impressionable players, especially younger ones, to make decisions about their bodies that they will later regret. Concerns arise over the risk of presenting irreversible medical procedures as mere personal style statements, rather than as complex and often life-altering choices. This is a game, yes... but moreso, feels like self-insertion to push ideologies, using a game as the vehicle to do so.
As I've covered previously (below), The Veilguard's lead developer is openly trans, and the inclusion of this stuff all reflects an ideological self-insertion. Representation has little to no place in gaming, and there’s a fine line between crafting inclusive narratives and pushing personal agendas onto players, especially given the sensitive nature of gender transition and body-altering surgeries. This is horror movie level type stuff...
Dragon Age unapologetically has set new industry standards for LGBTQIA+ inclusion since Inquisition. Yet, with The Veilguard, BioWare appears to have crossed into contentious territory. This is particularly concerning in a time when so many are questioning the impacts of gaming on mental health and personal identity.
The screenshots and conversations in game raise serious ethical questions about how far is... too far, when integrating real-world identity politics into the fictional realm of RPG storytelling? I'd argue it shouldn't even come up. Ever. Especially in a fantasy-realm setting.
Game studios have a responsibility to approach these topics with caution, considering both the empowerment and the potential unintended consequences of their portrayals. They clearly didn't do any of the sort that here, and the gaming community on Twitter is Tee-ing off on them (and rightfully so...).
When this game inevitably falls well short of expectations, they'll have no one to blame, but themselves.

This is satanic, pure and simple.
Who in there right mind would want to play or purchase video games with Pathetic gay shit in it ? No one will
This is even more worse than I thought it's in the dialog literally encouraging this behavior. If this kind of thing continues there going to have to change the rating system on these games. Absolute disgrace
