Game Journos Collectively Melt Down After Concord's Abrupt Shutdown

Journalists Are Melting Down on Twitter After Concord Gets Shut Down.

So much coping, so little time...

In the ever-so-inevitable fallout from the highly controversial game, Concord shutdown; "journalists" (yes I use that term ever-so-loosely, as always) across X are having a collective meltdown...

Bloomberg Reporter Jason Schreier:

The game, developed by Firewalk Studios and supported by Sony, aimed to push that awful DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) narrative that we've roundly rejected from the start.

Kotaku 'journo' Alyssa Mercante RT's The Verge's Ash Parrish's sentiment:

It’s a victory for gamers who saw right through this facade and refused to buy into the woke propaganda, but... a the same time, it’s left the so-called “professional journos” seething with anger.

The Verge Reporter Ash Parrish:

From the moment the first trailer dropped, I'd been warning Firewalk Studios about the impending failure of Concord. The game's concept was flawed, its messaging was heavy-handed, and its gameplay unappealing and already done before.

Illustrator @Aurahack, RT by Carolyn Petit of Kotaku:

But, in their arrogance, they didn't listen. Instead, they pushed forward with pronouns on a project that was doomed to fail, and now they've reportedly lost over 200 million dollars.

Gamespot managing editor Tamoor Hussain:

What’s particularly interesting is how the establishment journalists have been reacting on Twitter. Rather than acknowledging the valid concerns of gamers, they've instead chosen to go down with the ship, defending Concord at every opportunity. Blaming gamers, YouTubers, and anyone else not in their inner circle echo chamber for the failure.

IGN Editor Matt Kim:

These “professionals” have been relentless in their support, dismissing critics as trolls or bigots, all while ignoring the reality that gamers simply didn’t want what Concord was offering.

Forbes Writer Paul Tassi:

This begs the question: why are these journalists so invested in defending a game that so clearly missed the mark? There are countless better games out there that actually respect the preferences and desires of the gaming community, yet these journalists continue to champion Concord as if it were a masterpiece.

Former Kotaku Writer Hayes Madsen:

It has to make you wonder—what more is going on behind the scenes?

Second Wind hack Nick Calandra:

Could it be that there's a deeper connection between these journalists and the developers of Concord, or another agenda at play? After all, when a game flops this hard, you have to start questioning the motivations behind those who keep praising it...

Or IGN "Journalist" Stella...

The freelance that said Grummz should never feel safe, Ryan Easby:

One thing's for sure: this is a win for gamers everywhere. We’ve proven that we can still make our voices heard and that we won't be coerced into supporting games that push unwanted narratives.

Director of Research & Insights at Niko Partners, Daniel Ahmad:

As for the journalists continuing to melt down on Twitter, maybe it’s time they take a step back and actually listen to the gaming community for a change...

Don't hold your breath.

I think "woke" means different things to each person. Both sides don't seem to have a clear definition on what "woke" is suppose to mean.
