Split Fiction Success Puts Anti-Woke Grifter in Absolute Meltdown Mode

Writer's picture: Smash JTSmash JT

Split Fiction is really confusing the hell out of some of these anti-woke "Christian" grifters out there, and I gotta be honest - I am absolutely here for it.

Specifically, 'Yorch Torch Games'...

Yorch is having a bit of a coping session on social media these days, with many doubling and tripling downs on opinions that no one (save for a few loonies out there) seems to share... and for good reason.

After nearly seven hours of playing the game with Hypnotic on livestreams (so far), I can confidently say that I’m completely addicted. I covered this game previously, focusing mostly on the creator Josef Fares, and how it wasn't even the least bit woke whatsoever... and while I did (initially) receive some weak pushback from a certain segment of the community, the vast majority of gamers out there received it well.

But now, as the game has surpassed a quarter million concurrent players on Steam alone and celebrates selling over two million copies in just 48 hours, the seething and coping from certain the detractors is hitting an all-time high.

Take Yorch Torch Games for example, a 'journalist' (?) who seems to have gone completely off the deep end. He recently took to X to let the world know:

“Two dudes playing Split Fiction is the very definition of ultra lame and gay.”

In a separate post, he claimed the game should be boycotted simply because it has female protagonists, bizarrely defaulting to... calling the reason “Feminism”:

And if that wasn’t enough, here’s another gem from Yorch:

“Uninspiring gameplay.
Lame female characters.
Rampant feminism.
No need to waste time and money on Split Fiction.
There are too many good games out there.”

This man has completely lost the plot... But that doesn't stop his posts from continuing:

The reality is that a certain subsection of gamers have hijacked the "anti-woke" movement, turning it into a crusade where anything featuring women or minorities gets labeled as “woke” propaganda.

It’s such a predictable cycle that at this point, it's already beyond dumb. Clearly his intent with all this is to draw attention and engagement farm, and it's clearly working, because here I am covering it.

But here's the thing... this kind of approach is exactly what destroys potential great figures in the community and expose them for exactly who they are. Sure they get a bump in attention and eyeballs initially, but once people learn who you are, that attention fades as fast as it appeared.

IMHO, people like this don't actually play games. They have zero intent to pick up a controller for any reason - ever. They're here for the sole purpose... of using gamers as a vehicle to get them to their next spot. Nothing more, nothing less.

Thankfully, the game's creator Josef Fares perfectly responded to these nonsensical “woke” criticisms of Split Fiction, completely shutting down the bad faith arguments and proving once again that great games will rise above the noise. That doesn't stop people like Yorch from still pushing forward with a slanted view.

At the end of the day, though, the numbers don’t lie—Split Fiction is a massive success, and I honestly can’t wait to jump back in. A part of me ALMOST feels bad for those who prioritize an agenda... over playing a great game that by all accounts, has little to no 'wokeness' in it at all, whatsoever...

Despite what tourists try to tell you. The game is a blast. Check out my initial impressions video below for full thoughts:

...oh, and no... I'm not being paid by anyone to love this game. As if I needed to say that anyway lmfao. Also shoutout to packergirl on X for compiling a bunch of these screenshots for me!

I once tried to apply for a job at Fandompulse, but I'm glad I pivoted to other opportunities. Jon Del Arroz and TinkerYorch are two of the most insufferable losers on X just trying to engagement farm and these are people I'd rather not work with. I honestly don't see any difference between Fandompulse and Kotaku anymore. They're two sides of the same coin and complete parodies to what game journalism and reporting stands for.

This is one of the reasons I despise the term, 'Woke', as it is so vague and wishy-washy it can be easily defined as- 'Anything I don't like.' The Ideology that has been rampaging across Western Nations for the last decade (openly, it was present a long time before), is Cultural Marxism. The Belief that everything is a Social Construct, Objective Truth does not exist, Feelings create reality and that's all implemented by Power.

Postmodernism/Relativism & especially Feminism, all closely related have also done their damage, especially Feminism. That last is absolutely the most pervasive when it comes to leading people astray from Reason & Sanity. Even a modicum of research makes it clear it was never about wanting 'Equality'…

I don't mind this game being boycotted. I am doing so, because EA is the publisher and they are one of the first companies, which hired Anita Sarkeesian back in the day. Whether the game is overtly woke or hiddenly so makes no difference to me.

It's great to hear you're finding little to no objectionable content in this game. Will check out your gameplay vid.

I'm a big fan of A Way Out from these devs and like seeing further exploration of couch co-ops from talented people.

lol, It's ok to have a difference of opinion. Not everyone has to see things the way I do.

I know you know better. I've seen you in the comment section for endymion, doctor disaster and a few other places. You know for a fact that most people believe having a different opinion is a mortal sin.
