In a shocking development that no Mario fan could have foreseen (read: sarcasm fully intended), the infamous Bowser returns as the villain in the latest installment of the beloved franchise, Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Yes, folks, you heard it right! Nintendo's ESRB rating confirmation has dropped today, and it is loaded with both anticipation and, let's face it, the expected.
Our favorite fire-breathing, spiky-shelled antagonist is back, and it's no surprise. The reveal trailer had provided us a sneak peek of both Bowser's Ship and Castle, effectively laying out the red carpet for our expectations. Although these aren't surprising elements, they still set the scene for a tantalizing new adventure in the ever-expanding Mario universe.
Bowser, a name synonymous with not just villainy but also complexity, has long been one of the most intriguing characters in the gaming world. On one hand, he is the arch-nemesis in the 2D/3D platformers, a formidable foe with whom we've had countless showdowns. Yet, on the other hand, in the RPGs, he is often a source of comic relief, a testament to the character's versatility and enduring appeal.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder is slated for release on October 20, 2023. As an ardent fan, I'm thrilled and I know I'm not alone in this. Nintendo fans worldwide are riding the hype train, eagerly awaiting the chance to once again jump, stomp, and race our way through a new series of fantastic worlds. Our controllers are primed and ready for the adventure.
And so, until we can rescue the Princess from Bowser's clutches again, we must wait. Remember, even in anticipation, the spirit of gaming lives on. Here's to Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and here's to us, the ever-passionate fans who make it all worth it.
See you on October 20!
