The wait is finally over, Mario fans! After much anticipation and speculation, per Universal, The Super Mario Bros. movie has officially landed, streaming on digital platforms today! The news was confirmed by Universal earlier today, and the movie will be available for streaming in the United States from May 16th onwards.
Universal's announcement comes on the heels of rumors that the much-anticipated movie was slated for a home release in the near future. Today's confirmation will certainly bring joy to legions of fans who have been eagerly awaiting the chance to stream the adventures of the world's most famous plumber and his brother Luigi from the comfort of their own homes.
The Super Mario Bros. movie can now be caught on premier streaming services such as Amazon and Apple. But brace yourselves, as this adventure comes with a price tag. The film will be available for a one-time payment of $29.99 USD. Although the cost might seem a bit steep, true Mario enthusiasts will undoubtedly see it as a small price to pay for a front-row seat to Mario and Luigi's latest escapades.
Regrettably, there currently appears to be no option to rent the film. As of now, the only way to dive into the Mushroom Kingdom and join the Bros. on their mission to rescue Princess Peach from the nefarious Bowser is to purchase the movie outright. At least now fans can conveniently access the movie whenever and wherever their heart desires... Legally.
It's a thrilling day for Mario fans across the nation as they gear up to embark on a wild journey through the fantastical world of the Mushroom Kingdom. Be prepared to dodge Koopas, leap over pits, and soar through the skies on Yoshi's back, all while sitting snugly on your couch with a bowl of popcorn in hand.
However, as we celebrate the digital release of the new Super Mario Bros. movie, it's hard not to feel a pang of nostalgia for the original 1993 version. As much as I'm excited for the new film to be available at my fingertips, part of me can't help but wish that it was the gloriously campy, live-action Super Mario Bros. from 1993 popping up in our streaming options. With its off-the-wall humor, unique interpretation of the source material, and unforgettable performances, the original film holds a special place in my heart.
Until then, we'll have to settle for the next best thing - the new Super Mario Bros. movie, available for streaming today. Let's hope the power-ups in this version are just as enjoyable, even if they're not as nostalgically pixelated!
