"TMNT Mutant Mayhem" brings back the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with a bang! This latest installment from the mind of Seth Rogan successfully captured the playful tone of the original cartoon, serving up a fun storyline accompanied by dynamic action scenes. Fans of the franchise will find themselves laughing out loud more than a few times, and there's a genuine sense of joy permeating the entire film.
The movie does not quite reach the heights of the iconic 1990 film, but it doesn't have to. It's clear that the filmmakers succeeded in delivering an entertaining and engaging experience.
One aspect that may raise eyebrows is the portrayal of Master Splinter. While not crossing any lines, the character is presented in a way that's a bit "questionable" for comedic effect. Though odd at times, it does contribute to the humor without going too far.
April O'Neil's casting was a point of contention for some, with the character now portrayed by an African American actress. However, this decision fits seamlessly with the narrative, especially considering the New York setting. It's an inspired choice that works, and those initial concerns should quickly be put to rest once viewers see the character in action.
"TMNT Mutant Mayhem" offers a fresh, yet nostalgic take on the beloved characters. The comedy, action, and engaging storyline make it a must-watch for fans and newcomers alike. It's not perfect, but it's undeniably a blast!
Overall SMASH Score: 8.75/10
I'll be very honest here and say that I do own this animated movie, but that isn't all. I also own the old TMNT films from the 90's and I once owned the animated film that came out in 2007,but it was stolen. I also own the last two revamped version films of TMNT as well
